Boca

Boca and SandiIn an attempt to keep me active while my human has been recovering from surgery she brought Boca home a few weeks ago. Boca is about two weeks younger than Atlantis and twice as large. My human also describes Boca as a cuddle bug. I on the other hand see Boca as another youngster I get to dominate. Muhahahahaha.

Yes I've had a grand time putting Boca in her place and teaching her my household rules. She's very different than Atlantis. In fact Boca isn't really in to retrieving much so I don't feel in the slightest bit threatened by her possibly taking my place in this house.

We spend time outside playing and running around like wild beasts in the morning and in the evenings. It's still rather warm here so she won't go out much in the midday, again totally unlike Atlantis.

I'm not sure when my human will make the switch of Boca for Atlantis. Because of her surgery and her mother being here it may be awhile yet. I know my human really wanted Atlantis and I to do all the Halloween stuff together this year but if that isn't going to happen it'll be Boca and I instead.

The Left Shoulder

Ok so as many of you already know my human had her left shoulder replaced in mid August. I haven't been posting to my blog as much since then mostly because I've been so busy keeping an eye on her and her mother who flew in from Iowa to help with her recovery.

Recovery has been going a lot slower than any of us would have liked. In fact she wasn't allowed to do anything for several weeks which naturally made her very weak from lack of activity.

As a working dog the lack of activity is my main complaint. I couldn't go anywhere with her for the longest time simply because she couldn't hold my leash. Mind you she still went places, even went to play with other dogs and to watch Ella have her puppies, but she did all this without me. So I just sat at home and waited for her return each time.

Finally after weeks of physical therapy she started holding my leash a bit and allowed me to go with her to therapy. This is when I met her physical therapist and we hit it off great. She's probably the craziest human I've ever met. She got down on the floor and played with me like a puppy would. It was great!

Last week the surgeon gave my human permission to start her normal routine and start rebuilding the strength in her arm; finally. So she's trying to do more and starts her next 4 weeks of physical therapy soon. It's still going to be a long recovery but I think things will be getting back to normal soon.

Happy Birthday to me!

It's my favorite time of year once again. No not Christmas, Halloween or Valentines – Though those are all great too. No this time of year is even better because it's my birthday and my human spoils me on this day each year.

She finally took me along with her when she left the house today. I've been stuck in a lot lately because she's recovering from shoulder replacement surgery. Just getting out was a treat in itself, but I also got a bit of her sandwich at lunch. I met her physical therapist who was probably the craziest human I've ever met but so munch fun! This lady could talk to me in my own language and not only did she rub my tummy but she got on the ground and played with me. That was so much fun!

Then when we got home my human gave me the traditional giant chew bone I get each year on my birthday. It's gonna take me all night and in to tomorrow to chew through that thing. I love my birthdays!
