Dog show or dogs showing off?

Now there is a question... You see a few days ago my human and I went to a dog show in Scottsdale. My human had always wanted to see a real dog show. She kind of knew what to expect, I was a little disappointed. You see everyone always tells me how beautiful I am. I'm wonderful, I'm gorgeous, and I'm the best dog ever. Ok so maybe I let all the endless adoration go to my head once in awhile.

Well now that I have been face to face with what humans consider to be the ideal golden retriever I see that I look nothing like them. They were all gorgeous but I will tell you that the long and wavy feathering on my tail was far more lovely than the poofs on the show dogs tails and my human agrees with me on this one and apparently so did some of the show dogs as a few of them dragged their handler over to check out my stellar back end. Ok so maybe I was flaunting it a bit but you couldn't blame me, the place was packed with studs and I do like it when the boys want to sniff me.

My human and I cruised around checking out all the various types of dogs in their show rings. Then over to check out all the doggie goodies at the vendors, there were no freebies so we didn't stay in that area long, then back to show rings. Why do they call them show rings anyways; they were rectangular in shape. Humans, go figure.

Due to the lack of shade and ever increasing temperature we didn't stay more than a few hours. You wouldn't think it would be this hot already but it is.

Here are a few of the pics my human took at the show. I hope you enjoy them!

So long sweet kitty

A few days ago BunnyFur (AKA Boofoo the cat) was laid to rest. She was 16 years old and a sweet and loving cat to the end. At least that's what my human tells me. She never cared for dogs much so I was never able to meet her personally.

She will be dearly missed and always loved. To view pics of the kitty please click here.

Short and Sweet

My humans' cousin and his family stayed with us for a short while. Ok so it was only one night but it was still nice. The puppy Atlantis was sent to a sitters' home for the weekend while they were in town. My human was a little worried she would accidentally injure one of the kids in her naturally excited state. I tend to be a bit mellower now that I've matured a little.

I hadn't been that close to an infant before and that was very exciting at first but since he didn't do much I lost interest. The young daughter, once she got over her slight fear of my massive hulking size, was kind enough to pet me and run around the yard a little with me.

Still I didn't get to see them much as I wasn't invited out to dinner with them and the others. Maybe next time they'll stick around longer. I know my human hopes they'll visit again. She hadn't seen her cousin since she moved to AZ and he hadn't met their children at all until now.

What a Trooper

I don't normally talk about my human much, but this time I think she deserves a little recognition for all her efforts and hard work. You see last night I was sick. I started having diarrhea around 1am and my human took me out every hour there after so I could go poo. To top it all off it rained, rather stormed and poured most of the night, still my human was with me out in the cold, the rain and the wind to watch over me.

Around 6am my upset stomach finally forced me to vomit, we didn't get out of the bed room fast enough however. I tend to vomit very quickly so she saw the day break while cleaning up doggie vomit.

Finally I was able to rest and we both slept for a few hours before the alarm went off. Naturally I get sick during the night of a day we have scheduled engagements.

So my intrepid human let me rest in my kennel while she got Atlantis up, out and fed. Then she made a small meal for herself, I still have no idea how she can eat after all the poo and vomit, she must have an iron stomach.

By 10am or so I was feeling better and ate a little. The puppy was not thrilled about not being able to play with me all morning but my human decided it was best we dogs stay apart until I was feeling better.

Now I'm feeling much better, Atlantis and I played a bit today and so far I haven't had any more stomach upset. Hopefully tonight will be better than the last.

Oh and my dear human. She's, well a bit of a zombie but she did get an hour nap in the evening which perked her up enough to type out this blog entry for me. Love ya mom!
