More Wedding Fun!
Yes another wedding already. The parties never stop around here. Good thing my human and I are bundles of energy and love to party! Thankfully this time my human and I only had to be spectators in the blessed event, rather than participants. To top it off I wasn't the only dog in attendance!
Atticus (Atlantis's brother), Boca and Cringle also joined us. We had a whole isle in the church for us dogs. I must admit we were all very well behaved too, especially the much younger puppies. Ok so maybe Atticus kept trying to pick up the tempo of the ceremony a bit by thumping his tail against the pew, but who could blame him we wanted to party and socialize.
This wedding was a real treat for my human because it was not only a fancy and formal wedding but it was also military. Ya that's right; humans all dressed up in formal air force dress attire. My human tried not to drool over the studs too much. I did have to keep her moving on the way out though; she really wanted to soak in all the fine manliness a tad too long. Kinda funny really. Normally she is the one dragging me away from a handsome stud of a canine. I have taught her well.
After the ceremony my human decided to make a small stop for a bite of food. The reception dinner wasn't for many more hours and she was hungry since she forgot to eat lunch. We went through a drive through and drove to a near by parking lot to a shaded spot. While the humans were eating the police and fire fighters came dashing in. The fire truck parked behind our van and the police quickly sealed off the area. Apparently the restaurant behind us had caught fire.
So my human and her mom eat their little meal as I sat in the back seat watching police and fire fighters run this way and that way. Another fire truck showed up. The hoses were out and they were hard and work putting that fire out and we were totally stuck in the middle of it all. My human didn't really mind either, after all she was once again entranced by the site of well built men in uniforms.
After nearly an hour and once some of the police cars left the area my humans' mom go out of the van to ask if we would be able to leave. She talked to several cops and the fire men. Finally they said they would guide us out past the fire hoses and then move a squad car so we could exit. How sweet was that!
We were just on time for the start of the reception but missed most of the cocktail hour. We were guided through the glass doors and right to a little set of stairs going up in to the massive tent that was the reception location. Thankfully the hostess lady realized that my humans' scooter wasn't going to climb those steps so we were taken around to the back, through an employee entrance and up a ramp which took us to the reception area. We got to see parts of the reception that most don't get to see. All the servers prepping plates and the massive air conditioning units keeping the tent cool.
Once in a friend offered to help us find our table. He darted off to look at the seating chart and we tolled about looking at the little name cards on the tables. We finally found our table which happened to be a mere twenty feet from where we came in.
We once again sat with the other dogs and their handlers. In fact our table was all Arizona Goldens LLC people. How cool was that! My humans' mom was really the only outsider; in fact she was technically the wedding crasher. No one seemed to mind and she wasn't left to starve so all was good.
The humans were served food and again my human ate. Maybe I should also mention that this wedding and reception were about an hours drive apart and the whole event took course throughout an entire day. My human does eat a lot, that's true, but I don't want you all to think she's a glutton. I'm the glutton in this house and we are keeping it that way.
After the meal the music kicked in to high gear and we partied the night away. Everyone danced, especially the kids. We let them all do their thing and watched people twirl and hop all over the dance floor. Finally my human got up and we mingled a bit. My human can be very chatty when the mood strikes. I simply followed along and let everyone pet and love me. The excessive attention and loving I get is why I enjoy these events so much.
My human tried to get me out on the dance floor but with all the kids and people around I was just too excited to dance properly. My human stayed very calm and still trying to calm me down but then her mom would come bouncing by like a toddler on a sugar high and I went right over the top again. So my human dragged me from the dance floor and waited for me to calm down.
Everything stopped for a bit while the bride and groom cut the cake. We dogs had to stay back a bit. Apparently no one trusts us around sugar filled confections. I just don't know why not.
The music and dancing resumed while the servers put cake at all the tables for all the guests. Apparently it was very good cake. My human sure enjoyed it. She wouldn't share with me but I admit my flailing tongue did get a bit of frosting from the edge of the plate. It was yummy, my human disapproved greatly of my actions but it was totally worth it.
Then back out on the dance floor. My human again tried to get me to dance and after a little excited barking I finally decided to just do what she wanted and I shook my booty all over the dance floor. People laughed and applauded and I got a biscuit. Oh how I love being the center of attention. So naturally I did it again and again. My human finally had to ask me to stop.

My human joined in on some of the dances and I tried to, but the forward then back then turn then side then back and turn was a but too confusing so I just stood there with a puzzled look on my face. Boca was also brought out on to the dance floor and like me she was utterly confused so we just sat and watched people scuttle around her and her handler.
My human took a moment to sit and rest after the dancing but no sooner did she sit down then the cha-cha slide started to play. She quickly handed me off to a friend, grabbed her mother and dashed back to the dance floor. I watched as she danced with the rest of them. We she tried, my human isn't known for her grace, coordination or flexibility on the dance floor. Still she had fun and that's all that mattered. I had fun too and that's always a big plus in my book.
We got home and I finally got my dinner around 11pm. What an awesome day that was! I wonder when we can do it again.
