Doggie Beach Party!!

Today was the Gabriel's' Angels Doggie Beach Party. Actually it's a walk-a-thon but beach party sounds better doesn't it. My human and I got up at the crack of dawn to get ready. We even grabbed a few neighbor kids to join us at the event. A quick stop at Annie's' house to pick up her and her human, then finally we arrived at the party.

We were there very early so at first it wasn't too crowded. We headed to pre-registration because my human finally planned ahead for a change. The started making the rounds.

First to sign up for the beach wear contest; then over to the kid zone to check out the games and activities for the young humans. Cierra used stamps and colors to design a bandana for her little dog Cookie. My human tried in vain to get the kids to do the little agility game but they wouldn't do it. If we dogs can do it, I don't see why the humans can't. I guess they just don't have enough legs.

We meandered over to the vendor booths and chatted with vendor after vendor. We picked up loads of goodies as we went down the row, then the next, then the next. The humans met some very nice people and chatted a lot. I sniffed many dogs and got lots of petting and loving. It was glorious. And there were treats! Did I mention the treats!

After a run back to the van to unload all the goodies we got in line to start the walk-a-thon part of the event. We were nearly first in line and the line grew to be quite long. The walk was great for the first 200 feet, then my humans' scooter got stuck in the loose dirt and she needed a push.

During the walk we kind of lost Gretchen and Annie at some point. My human and I would have waited for them to catch up by the human pups didn't want to stop so when we got to the finish we turned and waited for them. Thankfully they weren't too far behind. Annie had however been pulling her human a little too much during the walk so she had to be tied to the scooter for awhile so her human could rest her arm.

No sooner did we finish the walk then it was time to go get the costumes for the beach wear contest. Yup, we were once again forced to adorn silly garments and made to look ridiculous. Neither Annie nor I were impressed by this and we did fight the process as much as possible. I even took a moment to roll in the grass and got covered in dirt and dry grass bits. Score one point for me!

I know you want to know if we won, well we didn't. How could we possibly compete with the blues brothers' beach style, a dog in a lobster suit and a bulldog named Tinkerbell in a sundress? I must admit they were darn cute. We didn't need to wear our costumes long, which was great.

We stopped briefly to buy raffle tickets and a few extra tickets for the photo booth. I got my picture taken with Cierra; then Annie joined us both for a photo. Julian then posed with Annie. Oh and my big posterior bumped the easel and knocked the backdrop down. Score two points for me! I'm such a stinker.

We found a shady place and chilled out while waiting for the raffle to be drawn. Last year my human won an item in the raffle at this same event and most of what she won she couldn't use or didn't use so it was given away to friends. This year she won again and again she won something she can't use. Though I must admit I would love to see her try those kickboxing & kung fu lessons.

After the beach party Annie and I had to get in to working mode as we put on our vests and entered a local Wendy's for lunch. I was hungry and it was very obvious by the drool that began oozing from my lips. Annie didn't drool. Show off.

We took Annie and her human home then the kids and finally ourselves. I was fed, finally, and quickly passed out on the cool tile floor. What a day.
