Preston Present

For Christmas this year Preston came back for a visit! Partly because we both missed him so much and partly because Rose was due to have puppies on Christmas day. She came a day late but all the puppies (3 girls & a boy) seem to be doing very well or so I'm told. My human went to watch the births, Preston and I stayed home to guard the house.

Ok so the holidays weren't as exciting as I had hoped for by Preston and I sure did have fun getting in to trouble. As is typical for my goofy human she did make Preston pose for a picture in the Santa hat. I'm so glad it wasn't me this time. Tee hee.

We were just trying to help

While my human's family was in town they did a lot of work in and around the house. However the large bush like plant in the back yard didn't get trimmed back and let's face it, it was getting a bit unruly.

So in my defense I was only trying to help and since Ella was staying with us for a bit I enlisted her help as well. Some may call it being destructive, others may call it being playful, and I'm personally going to stick with being helpful because it sounds better.

Long story short, we tore, and ripped the branches off that bush in the back until it was nice and tiny. My human wasn't impressed that she then had to pick up the scattered branches from the yard but we didn't want her to feel left out on the action. Humans need to feel useful, they like it. Trust me.

Yard Work

My humans' family flew in for the Thanksgiving holiday and during this time is eating and fun she decided to put them and everyone else to work. She's such a mean human.

I would like to say I helped out with this project too but in reality I spent most of the day in the kennel. I was only allowed out when they were about done and wow was I surprised. The yard had been all scooped up and moved around and laid back down. The humans didn't think it looked like much had changed but according to my sense of smell the world had been turned up side down. I simply didn't know where to pee! I had a pee spot or two and they were well marked, now the smell was everywhere and nowhere at the same time.

I also smelled all the up turned dirt, the peoples sweat and lots of tools. I think the whole neighborhood had been in the yard while I was in the kennel. So many people, so much petting and loving I messed out on.

Not only was my humans' family out there working but so were many of the neighbors and their kids. Even a sweet five to six year old boy came along to help. My human was so happy to see so many people come to help. She made sure they all had drinks (mostly water and Gatorade, but some soda too) and sandwiches. The younger helpers were paid for their time and efforts as well.

I must say the yard looks good. In fact it looks like it did when I first came to live here. Maybe this time I'll let it stay this way.
