Walk to Save Animals

Last Sunday was the Arizona Animal Welfare Leagues Walk to Save Animals. It’s an annual event. This year there was a 2k and 5k walk plus food and other vendors. My handsome friend Raine served as my escort for the afternoon. My human was our chauffeur and she was kind enough to invite some of my other friends. Annie, Ryika and Ludo (aka Dude) all brought their humans too. The five of us got all kinds of freebies from the vendors, checked out the classic cars on display and went on the 5k walk.

This photo was taken after the walk; we were all rather tired and sore. Raine didn’t want to pose so he hid behind the scooter and I tried to join him but didn’t get away fast enough. So yes, that fluffy butt you see is mine.

There were so many dogs at this event it made my head spin. Raine was so excited he kept trying to pull my humans scooter around. Ok so maybe I pulled a bit more than I should have too.

We all received many compliments about how beautiful we were and how good we were. That’s nothing new to me. I hear that all the time. I’m a total babe after all. Plus it helped that I had been visited by the groomer the day before the walk and he made my coat shine. My human even splurged a bit and Raine was given a thorough scrubbing and trim. We both glowed and according to my human, didn’t stink like dogs anymore. And what is wrong with the natural stink of a drool and dirt covered dog may I ask?!

Playing with Raine

My dear Raine is back. My human was good enough to go pick him up the other night; though I wish she had taken me along for the ride. It's so good to see him again. We found a plushy squeaky toy while my human was sleeping last night and tore it to bits. I love it when he's here. I get to be such a bad dog.

He'll be round for several more days so I'm sure I'll have more exciting news to share very soon. Plus this Sunday is a fund raiser dog walk thingy that we are going to attend. Annie is going to join us and I think Smokey, Ryika and Bowdie will be there too.

Casa Grande

Yesterday we drove to Gilbert to pick up Annie and her human; we then headed out for Casa Grande. It was a long drive and for being a Saturday there was a lot of traffic. Thank goodness I like to lie on the floor of the van so I don't have to see all those crazy drives on the freeway.

Our friend Charlie (he's human) invited us to attend the grand opening of the PetSmart down there. He's one of the upper management types at that store and I think the power is going to his head – just a smidgen. I got to sniff lots of dogs and tried pulling my human around the store. Of course being tied to her scooter made this nearly impossible but I get points for the effort.

I also got some treats, toys, food samples and a T-shirt for my human. Annie was good enough to do the same for her human. We do try to take good care of them.

We were all supposed to go out for lunch around 11am. That didn't happen. Charlie had to stay in the store until 2pm. So Annie and I took our humans out of lunch. Unfortunately the area the PetSmart is in is still very new and most of the buildings aren't open yet. So we ended up at the little café thing in Target.

We walked around a bit, even went in to a few other shops before heading back to PetSmart to pick up Charlie and his dog Ryika. We followed Charlie back to his place so he could change and drop off Ryika. Then finally out to lunch. Naturally no one ate anything healthy. Instead they all had pie, cake and other deserts. Humans! What can you do, you try to train them right and they still go for the sweets.

Annie and I feel asleep while the humans were chatting over their deserts. Not much for a dog to do in a restaurant. I take that back, there is a lot for a dog to do in a restaurant; we just aren't supposed to do those things.

We got home around sun set after dropping Annie and her human off. I finally got my dinner and took another long nap while I'm human went to work on the computer. What a day it was!
